Book Review: 妻子好合/Good Wife

Hi people!! Here we go again, two blog posts in a day!! How efficient can I be? Check out my latest boom review on a chinese novel titled 妻子好合/Good Wife!! 🙂

Story revolves around an ancient lady named Lu Wan Yu (WY) on how she find her happiness. In the beginning of the story WY married to a rich family the Jiangs. Her husband is the youngest son in the family, named Jiang Zhao Ying (ZY). ZY is a play boy whom lives his life doing nothing but visiting the prostitute, drinking and gambling. 😦

He hurt WY deeply. Especially when WY knew that he actually went to seek comfort with a prostitute when she was pregnant and was giving birth to their first child. The couple always fighting over trivial things. One day ZY family got in trouble with the King. ZY divorced with WY and she brought their son back to her family. 😦

When she was back to single and living with her family, she realized that she got pregnant with ZY’s second child. After giving some thought, she gave birth to a daughter. 🙂

Her father wanted to get rid of WY and her two children. He married her off to a well off government official. The man named Xue Qi (XQ) was a gentle, warm hearted and love her with his whole heart. 🙂

As the days pass by, WY fall in love with XQ too. Together they became a happy family, along with XQ’s son from his first marriage (his wife died after giving birth to their son due to sickness)!! 🙂

After a few years, WY gave birth to a son with XQ! But she couldnt forget about her ex-husband. XQ realized that WY still bear a grudge against ZY. The married couple had a good long talk about their past. WY finally able to accept her past and forgave ZY’s behaviour towards her back when they were married. 🙂

The story came to a happy ending whereby the kids of ZY met him and acknowledge him as their father. After doing so, the happy family went on to live happily ever after!! 😀

Personally I will give this story a high rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars!! I love how the female lead WY and male lead XQ interact with each other. XQ cares deeply for WY from the beginning!! The process of their love blossoming for each other and their children was an amazing part to read about. The story is a touching one, with a hint of humor here and there!! 😉
