Hello to all movie fanatics out there. Today’s blog post will be a movie review on an English film titled Turning Red. It was first screened in the year of 2022, with a duration of 1 hour and 40 minutes. It belongs to the category of animation, family and comedy. Read on to know more about this wonderful film. 🙂
The movie begins with how the main character is a young girl named Mei Lin (voiced by Rosalie Chiang) who is a dutiful daughter and obeys her mother’s wishes. Mei gets great results and helps out at her home temple after school. Mei’s mother named Ming (voiced by Sandra Oh) has high hopes in her. Ming humiliates Mei upon knowing her crush on a boy in town and gives him a scolding. Mei had a nightmare and woke up to find herself transformed into a giant red panda. Ming shared the family history of transforming into a giant giant red panda since their ancestor uses this transformation to protect her children during wartimes. Ming explained that a ritual will be held to seal the soul of the panda into a talisman to protect Mei. Mei broke down in sadness while being discovered by her friends. 😦
They consoled Mei and encouraged her, Mei resumed her happy and confident self. The girls decided to attend a boy band concert, Ming refused to let Mei attend. The girls came up with a plan to use Mei’s red panda form to earn money in school. They managed to gather enough money for the concert but were being found out by Ming. Ming gave Mei’s friends a scolding before dragging Mei home. On the day of the ritual, Mei decided not to seal her panda soul and rushed to attend the boy band concert with her friends. Ming was worried and chased after Mei. A fight broke out between the two, they were being transported to another dimension where Ming sealed her panda again. Mei decided not to seal her panda with Ming’s blessings. The movie ended with how Mei and Ming had a lovely bonding over the family temple. Mei’s red panda form became the attraction of the temple. 🙂
I will give this international movie a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. It has an captivating plot with lots of hilarious and sentimental scenes.
